LS polls: Filing of nomination papers commences in JK, Bla and Jmu to go to polls on Apr 11 | KNO

Srinagar, March 18 (KNO) : Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Government on Monday announced the filing of nomination papers has commenced. Two seats in the state including Jammu and Baramulla will be going to polls on April 11. Officials according to KNO correspondent said that the polling time, will be from 7 am to 6 pm. "Filing of nomination papers has commenced from today and will conclude on March 25," the official said, adding that last date for withdrawal of papers is March 28. Officials said that the media centre has been set up and all the things going into the poll campaigns will be monitored. Polling parties will have to abide by the Model Code of Conduct that is in place, they said, and the state election commission will follow them. "Political parties will have to abide by the MCC in place and Election commission will ensure that it is followed in letter and spirit," officials said, adding that March 01 and 24 are two holidays so on these two days no nomination papers will be filed. The time to file papers will be between 11 am to 3 pm. "The scrutiny of papers will be done on March 26 at the DC office," they said, adding that the media cell has been set up at PWD guest house. "People need to get the media certification for any poll material," he said, adding that pamphlets, materials, flag should mention name of painter, printer and the number of printed or painted material as well. There will be gag on using loudspeakers from 10 pm to 6 am as well. The Election Commission Monday issued a notification signed by President Ram Nath Kovind for the first phase of the election. Filing of nomination papers has commenced and will continue till March 25, The states that will go to ballots include, Andhra Pradesh (25 seats), Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya (two seats each), Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep (one seat each), Telangana (17 seats) and Uttarakhand (five seats) while Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal will see polling in all the seven phases.(KNO)
